G3VTT and myself, N4CJ, are wondering if we can claim the 'first' USA/European CW QSO on 60m (5373.0 kHz)?
At 0001z on 5 March (just one minute after USA amateurs were allowed to use CW on the five 60m channels for the first time), Colin answered my CQ. I gave him 549 and he gave me 339, later changing it to 569 as QSB took effect. I told Colin I was running 100 watts from my K3 to an inverted vee at 35 feet at my Florida QTH and he told me he was using 50 watts from an IC735 to a 120 feet end-fed wire. A good QSO for my first 60m CW QSO in the USA.
I made 13 more QSOs during the next hour, all with USA stations (including an N6 in California). This morning between 1100 and 1130z I made some more QSOs with USA stations on 60m.
