This social event is held every year during the first weekend of December, usually in Orlando, and is open to members and their guests.  

2020 WEEKEND CANCELLED

As announced in the July, 2020 FOC News Sheet (No. 849), the 2020 W4-FOC Orlando Meeting was set early in 2020 to take place December 4-6 at the Holiday Inn Orlando Airport.  The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in early March and its subsequent and continuing worldwide spread has greatly impacted the U. S. and the state of Florida, including Orlando and Orange County.

As of August 4, 2020 Florida reports nearly 500,000 confirmed positive cases of the virus, with from 5-10 thousand new cases reported per day in recent weeks.  The Governor’s Executive Order requiring all travelers to the state both by air and road from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to self-quarantine for 14 days remains in effect, and certain states require the same for residents returning to those states from Florida.  The Governor states that travel increases chances of getting or spreading COVID-19, and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation is to refrain from travel.

In view of the foregoing, I have discussed this with FOC President Ray Burlingame-Goff G4FOC, as well as with some regular attendees to the event, and we have concluded that the most prudent course of action is to cancel our 2020 event.  I will continue to monitor this situation with respect to the 2021 meeting.
