The Committee met at the 2023 AGM on Saturday, 30th September in London UK. We were joined by a good portion of the membership both in person and online by means of a Zoom conference.

Our venue in London was the “Greenwich Yacht Club” situated right on the river Thames in North Greenwich. FOC has some history here and was in fact the last venue we used to hold a FOC UK Annual Dinner in London back in 2012. It provided a very special setting for us for or 85th Anniversary event.

Given we were back in London the event attracted people who wanted a mini vacation with all the attractions the UK capital has to offer. In addition, London makes it pretty easy to receive international guests. A special thanks to these members who made a trip to UK to join us.

Doors opened from about 9.00am on Saturday – almost immediately afterwards our special event station GB85FOC was up and running thanks to the efforts of Iain, MØPCB. This proved very popular with those attending and members were in and out of the chair keeping the station active during most of the morning.

Every AGM follows a standard agenda. There are speeches from the Chairman and Secretary as well as a presentation on our accounts from the Treasurer. It’s always a good moment to take stock of what’s been happening throughout the year.

Once the informal part of the meeting had run its course, we closed the Zoom conference and those attending went to a nice drinks reception that had been prepared for us. This was also an extended break so that members could relax, get ready for dinner or walk around outside by the river. The weather was simply perfect for this. Everyone moved over to the impressive Club House of the Greenwich Yacht Club which is literally built out on stilts above the river. It provided a quite unique and special dining suite for our dinner.

Looking back, this was a very long day given we started at about 9,00am in the morning when we began with the GB85FOC station. But somehow it had all passed very quickly.
