Fabian Kurz DJ1YFK (FOC 1796) - 2009 GACW DX Contester of the Year

The GACW (Grupo Argentino de CW) have awarded a Certificate of Excellence to Fabian Kurz DJ1YFK for his contribution to the amateur radio community and his contesting skills.

Fabian, born in 1983, is a well known CW operator. First licensed as DG9YFK in November 1997 at the age of 14, upgraded to DJ1YFK and made his first CW QSOs in March 1998. He also holds a US extra class license AD5UR. He is a recognized young telegrapher, highlighted by his participation in HST contests and ranks first in the list of RUFZ.

Since October 2003, he has been studying Electrical Engineering at the Dresden University of Technology.

Fabian has also developed programs for Linux / UNIX such as Log YFK logbook, YFK Test for contests, Online Learn CW Online and also other utilities. He is enthusiastic about the practice of QRQ and has achieved the German championship in High Speed Telegraphy six times between 2000 to 2009. As a member of HST German Team he has won several medals in international competitions and currently holds the title of World Champion RufzXP.

This is not a monetary reward but this is the best prize we can give a young contester.
